Nic arrived in China in 1994. As an early foreigner in China, he has been involved in multiple new ventures, his most notable endeavour developing into being the leading flower business in China. He enjoys mentoring other entrepreneurs.

In 2014, he was elected Best Dutch Entrepreneur by Cathay Pacific. He is an active member in the global Entrepreneurs Organisation network and the Sustainability Chair.
