From November 20 – 22, 2019, PureTerra Ventures attended CleanConnect 2019 as speaker & moderator of a panel discussion in Shanghai, China.
During the 2-day conference, PureTerra Ventures was amazed by not only in-depth sharing expertise sessions but also when we found out that the Chinese market has a strong demand for ceramic membranes. In which, it gives Cerahelix – our portfolio company – a competitive advantage & growth opportunity in China.
About CleanConnect 2019
CleanConnect 2019 is the 6th international cleantech cooperation and investment conference organized by Umore Cleantech Consulting. Every year, more than 120 overseas cleantech entrepreneurs and sustainability practitioners worldwide come to Shanghai to meet with 200+ Chinese entrepreneurs, investors, and end-users. CleanConnect 2019 provided four main topics: 1) Water Treatment & Reuse, 2) Air quality & Off Gas Treatment, 3) Environmental Remediation, 4) Waste to Value. Moreover, there are two sessions that facilitated participants to build profitable connections, namely, Matchmaking 1-on-1, and Financing 1-on-1. Additionally, PureTerra Ventures was a key partner with CC 2019.
PureTerra Ventures key takeaways from CC2019
PureTerra Ventures was a key speaker in the Water Forum segment, which had a laser focus on Innovative Technologies in Water Market. Our Head of China & Business Analyst, Libin Song, provided her expertise & insights around water solutions at the forum. She opened the forum with a speech about ‘’Catalyzing Water Solutions to Advert Water Challenges in China”.
Libin shared: “The event was very successful, transaction-oriented, efficient 1-on-1 meetings. I had a chance to meet with a lot of Chinese downstream & solution providers, as well as, foreign innovation technology providers and investors. Additionally, participants came to the program with very concrete goals prepared before-hand which directly contributed to the high efficiency of our meetings during the event. As such, many valuable connections were built during the conference.”
Furthermore, Libin was the panel discussion moderator on the topic of “Strategies Moving Forward to Accelerate the Deployment of Global Water Innovation in China’’. Speakers joined her for the discussion were from Oxymem, China U.S. Green Fund, CSD Concept, and SUNUP. Libin shared: “The panel discussion was very informative. We had a very open, interactive & engaging panel discussion with speakers & the audience. The audience learned a lot from the content which panel speakers shared with them about how foreign technology providers can succeed in the Chinese market, as well as, how Chinese companies can improve in cooperating with overseas innovation better in the future.”
China’s strong demand for ceramic membranes
During the event, we were fascinated by the high interest in ceramic membranes in the Chinese market. Ceramic membranes are the most widely used inorganic membranes and are characterized by significantly high thermal, chemical, and mechanical stability in wastewater treatment.
Additionally, we received a lot of positive feedback about Cerahelix from Chinese cleantech practitioners. Libin said: “Ceramic membranes are highly welcomed in the Chinese market. Besides, strict regulations of ZLD are driving the demand for relevant technologies”.
Cerahelix, PureTerra Ventures’ portfolio company, is a leading company with advanced ceramic membrane technology. Cerahelix designs and manufactures ceramic pico-filtration products used for high purity filtration. Cerahelix product meets the customer needs for energy & water conservation. As such, Cerahelix’s technology can significantly improve process efficiency for a wide range of industries. Read more about Cerahelix here.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who came and made CleanConnect 2019 a big success. We look forward to seeing you next year at CleanConnect 2020!
