MEMBRION, our latest investment that makes recovering water worth every drop

PureTerra Ventures joins a USD 7 million Series B round and welcomes its next investment, Membrion, Inc., to our growing portfolio of exciting game-changing technologies.

Membrion, Inc., based out of Seattle, Washington, develops and manufactures next-generation ceramic desalination membranes that can recover up to 98% of water in the harshest conditions.
Membrion’s flexible, ceramic ion exchange membranes open endless opportunities for cost-efficient water recovery, allowing manufacturers across several critical industries to recycle water more sustainably.

Spun out of the University of Washington in 2016, Membrion addresses a pain point in wastewater treatment where existing solutions require companies to truck water away rather than treat it on the spot. It sells ceramic desalinisation membranes that treat toxic runoff from manufacturing processes, removing salt and heavy metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and copper.
Membrion’s customers include leading global companies in the energy, semiconductor, transportation, and food & beverage industries struggling to achieve zero discharge aspirations or even meet their mandated treatment limits.

Along with Safar PartnersGiantLeap Capital, Freeflow, and Membrion’s existing investors, we believe in the solution Membrion, Inc. has developed. With their ion exchange membranes, the future is bright for industrial wastewater. Partner Nic Pannekeet from PureTerra Ventures will join the Board of Membrion, Inc.
